PPV - Practical Evaluation Test
Starting from the 2023/24 academic year, students enrolled in the Master's Degree in Psychology will obtain both their degree and professional qualification upon completion of their studies, granted by a dedicated Commission. The Practical Evaluation Test (PPV) is the examination required to obtain professional qualification in Italy.
The PPV consists of a brief evaluation of the internship activity and ethical and deontological aspects of the profession, as covered during the TPV and the Ethics Course.
Passing the PPV is necessary to obtain a Psychology degree.
Please note that passing the PPV is a necessary step, but on its own it does not grant the right to practice as a psychologist. After passing the test, graduates become eligible to apply for registration in the professional Register.
Registration is the act that formally allows the practice of the profession in Italy. This registration is not automatic: graduates must consult the website of their regional Register and follow the application procedures provided there.
These procedures apply only to those intending to practice in Italy. International students must instead consult the competent authorities in their home country to verify the requirements and licensing procedures needed to practice there
To access the PPV, students must:
- Have been admitted to the Final Exam (Graduation).
- Have completed 30 CFU of mandatory internship (10 CFU from the Bachelor's degree + 20 CFU from the Master's degree).
- Have completed all the exams.
- Have completed the Ethics course (info below).
- Submit Graduation Request, before deadlines (see Graduation Calendar);
- Complete the Ethics Course (see information below);
- Payment receipt for the TPV fee (€180.00);
- Payment receipt for the PPV fee (€49.58).
Please note that you do not need to register for the PPV — your registration will be processed automatically by the office, after verification of all the requirements.
The Ethics Course is a mandatory requirement for admission to the PPV. It is delivered exclusively in person, and attendance is compulsory.
The course may be attended by second-year students, including those who have not yet completed the qualifying internship (TPV). It is offered twice a year, in June and November.
In each edition, two equivalent courses are organized on different dates. Each student must choose one of the two courses offered in a given edition and attend it in full (100%). It is not permitted to attend one session of a course and another session of the other: in such cases, course completion will not be recognized.
